Kira's LBB Pick: Esthétique Studio

Esthetique Charlotte.JPG

I've recently been seeing Debbie Nelms of Esthétique Studio and I can't recommend her enough! Debbie offers a variety of services, but her hair removal and customer service skills have earned a spot in my Little Black Book.

I paid Debbie a visit for some routine hair removal. For fear of sharing too much information, let's just say I was tired of traditional hair removal methods. I read about "sugaring" a few years ago but was never able to find a specialist in New York. When I moved to Charlotte, I scouted out potential service providers on Yelp and Esthétique had incredible reviews (and is located right near my office- talk about convenient!)

If you are wondering what sugaring is all about, check out Debbie's website for a full breakdown. But basically, it's a warm paste of sugar that is applied to the skin and gently pulled off. While I won't say it's painless on the first try, I will say it gets less painful each visit. I am a convert through and through! The process is so quick and the results are incredible. It's also non-toxic!

Another reason I love Debbie is because of her professionalism and oh so sweet personality. Initially I called her to just talk about the sugaring process because I was a newbie. We chatted for a few minutes, she shared with me more about the process and why it's different (psst- why it's better than traditional waxing!) and then scheduled my appointment. When I had to reschedule, she was more than accommodating.

You can find Esthétique inside Poza Salon at 2314 Crescent Ave (right off Providence in Myers Park.) You'll need to park in the rear parking lot or on the street, enter in the back of the house and walk upstairs to find Debbie!

First Ever Clients Only Event!

Thank you guys SO much for coming out last month for the first ever clients only event- our Donut + Mimosa Brunch! It was a great test run and the turnout was amazing! This is something I hope to do quarterly. I love being a host and love a good theme so stay tuned for updates here and via email in the months to come.

Of course the brunch flew by and I forgot to snap a photo of everyone. Next time I'll be sure to document things better. The goods were freshly made at one of our favorite local spots, Duck Donuts in Dilworth. It's right off East Blvd., and if you ever get the craving for something sweet, you can get one donut (or dozens) made to order.

These bad boys are cake style donuts, fried on demand and hand dressed with whatever you can imagine! My favorite is chocolate bacon- who knew?! Other favorite combos are vanilla oreo, lemon coconut, cinnamon sugar (a classic!) The mimosas were flowing and so was the conversation. I can't thank y'all for coming out to support.

If you missed out on last month's festivities, please let me know so I can ensure you are on the email list.

Until next time!

My Little Black Book

Kira Uptown

It's likely you are relatively new to Charlotte. Heck, I've been here for 15 months and still feel new sometimes. It helps to know someone from here but it's okay if you don't. Practically none of us are.

Some  clients diligently take notes (like, actual notes) and others ask me for direct recommendations. And thus this idea was hatched to share with you the people I trust here in the Queen City. From doctors and gyms to the best CPA in town (seriously, he rocks!) I want to send you to places and businesses I've only had positive experiences with. This city is HUGE and there is a lot of rubbish to sift through- so much so, I know the first step I make before deciding anything is asking a friend or heading to Yelp or Google Reviews. Some of you asked, so here it is...!

Let me know what other types of services/businesses you're interested in. And please, share with us in the comments your favorites! Sharing is caring, right?  It's my goal and hope for the LBB to grow and get better with time.

Thanks as always for your support! I appreciate each and every one of you :-)
