Happy Thanksgiving, friends!
It is my hope that you are surrounded by loved ones and of course, delicious food. Perhaps it includes a turkey trot, your grandmother's fine silver, or a special dessert you look forward to each year. Traditions to me, are what make the holidays magical and memorable.
Here are a few of our family traditions:
- on the dinner table: 2 types of cranberry sauce (ina's cranberry conserve and the canned jelly version.) My mother's turnip puree (that doesn't actually contain turnip at all, ha!) Hot toddies, baskets of raw nuts to be cracked by hand, and my aunt's white chocolate spice cake, as requested by my brother year after year.
- Popping a bottle of prosecco to sip as we (the cooks!) cook up a storm- a nice way to relax before company arrives.
- And my most treasured tradition: spending black friday at home putting up the Christmas tree (with Christmas music playing, of course) as opposed to heading to the mall...
Whatever you do and with whomever you share today, I trust that it brings joy, light, and love to your life!
