Summer Essentials

I don't know about you guys, but I love summer. As some of you may know (and sympathize, too) I HATE winter. H-A-T-E. Hate is a strong word, I know, but winter is the longest three (okay, more like four) months of my life where not much really happens. I watch too much Netflix, eat more cookies than I should, and eagerly await the first signs of Spring.

Most of all, I hate being cooped up inside. To say I get stir-crazy, is an understatement.

But summer, on the other hand, is quite the opposite. I spend as much time as possible outside. And although many folks despise those hazy, hot and humid days, I welcome it- frizzy hair, mosquito bites, weird tan lines and all.

When the ladies at the B Bar asked What are your summer essentials, my mind began to buzz- from grilling and sipping ice cold rosΓ© to barbecues and beach getaways. Naturally, my number one summer essential is being outside. There are so many amazing things that compliment the outdoors. It was hard to pick just a few, so I'm listing anything and everything that makes this season oh so amazing...

  • Eating and entertaining alfresco
  • Mojitos- they taste better when it's hot and humid, no?
  • The beach/lake/pool
  • Sweet summer corn- grilled of course
  • Ice cream, lots of it (our local creamery is right on the river, evidence above!)
  • Iced coffee
  • Reading a page turning book
  • Easy, breezy linen clothes
  • Campfires
  • Riding my bicycle
  • My overflowing herb garden
  • Putting those fresh herbs on everything
  • RosΓ©. Need I say more?
  • Grilling everything- fruit and pizza are no exception
  • Wimbledon (Although I'm not technically outside- it's my favorite (outdoor) sporting event of the year- it just screams summer. I'll make it there one day!)
