House Huntress : Colorful Family Compound in Atlanta

Oh ATL, how you have that way with me. Many of my favorite homes- yes I have favorites because I'm a home-obsessed freak- are here. My love affair with Atlanta started while attending college in Charlotte. I was in need of a desk chair. And since nothing suited my fancy, I began looking online. I needed a cheap (college girl budget) but fashionable (if we could call it that) chair that may or may not be comfortable (who cares, really?) And then I found a $25 chair from Ikea. Only problem? There was no such thing as Ikea Charlotte. Or anywhere nearby! By the way, thanks Ikea for opening after I moved back to NY.

So, what did I do? What any logical 18 year old would do. Hop in my in-laws minivan and road trip it to the ATL. For a $25 office chair. Like, really? Who does that? And why didn't I just get it delivered? Oh to be young...

Upon arrival in Atlanta proper, of course I got side tracked and did what any eager, young House Huntress would do: scope out the real estate. I was in love. I look back and wonder: Why am I not in real estate?  That's another story...

So anyway, I got my chair! And I am happy to report I still own it to. this. day. 7 years and going strong... and now occupying a desk in my brother's room (it's blue, people.) We stopped at Krystal's on our way back (my husband is from Florida- HELLLLOOO he loves those damn burgers!) And 4 hours later, we arrived safely back home. That's my Ikea Atlanta story. The end.

Ah so, this home- OMG it is a bit OOC, which you will probably agree with me on. Estate-ly, 6 glorious acres, a butler's pantry (oh how I want one of those,) a "Florida room" (which sounds supremely appealing considering it's May and my winter boots are still in rotation,) and a tennis court. That's not even the half of it.

It's a bit colorful, but hey, it looks comfortable and extremely well lived in. I can totally see a fun modern, ART-LOVING family growing up here. Make sure you check out the art! I am obsessed with the kitchen(s) and the indoor/outdoor space. And the pea gravel driveway- I love a pea gravel driveway. There's so much to swoon over...

Oh, built in banquette, you speak to me. Even if you are canary yellow!

I like the wood beams throughout. And all the windows and doors! Cozy but light and airy.

A windowed, galley-style marble and white butler's pantry. Now we're talking my language.

What a fun room. I love the folding, steel french doors leading to the pool and patio.

I love this house! There is so much personality that radiates from it. It's eclectic but still light, bright, and airy. I approve of this message. I mean, house.
