There's just something special about a Dutch door. Perhaps because we don't see them that often here. Or because they're beautiful, functional, and architecturally interesting. They just add something to a home- an extra flair. Currently, I see them in higher end homes here in Charlotte. They're often painted a rich, dark color and have intricate fixtures. They're truly stunning and a definite conversation starter.
In an entry, they truly make a statement. And allow for cool spring and autumn breezes to fill your space! In the kitchen or mudroom, they make for easy transport of items, say groceries and garden goodies, while keeping your little ones or furry friends at bay. Speaking of little ones, my most favorite Dutch door I've seen in person is in a nursery. Think of being able to check in on your sleeping baby without the creak or slamming sound of a door disrupt their slumber!
I think as more people lovingly renovate older homes and even build from the ground up, the Dutch door will be making more appearances in the years to come.
